As he prepares for a professional football career in Europe, the petroleum boys, on Saturday, 24th June, bide farewell to Moses Jarjue, who will be leaving to join his new club FC Polissya in Ukraine after signing a contract with the Ukrainian club from Fortune FC.
A tough, tall, calm and intelligent defender, Moses has been one of the most consistent players for Fortune football club in the past three years and played a key role in the club’s league triumph in the 2021 Gambia Football Federation Division One league.
The Gambia under 20 reliable defender joined Fortune in the 2019-2020 league season and went on to been part of the team’s first league triumph.
As an honor and attestation of his valuable contributions to the success of the team as an exemplary player, the club framed a jersey and a certificate, as a sign of appreciation for the defender.
These frame and certificate were presented to Ukraine bound star at the Brikama Mini-stadium after the team’s final league game of the season, marking an end of his time with the petroleum boys.
“ Moses is an epitome of a hardworking and disciplined footballer. He has been an exemplary player on and off the pitch with a desire to make it in a professional league. Moses is a dreamer and I have the utmost confidence that he has more to give out as a player.
“As a club, we are delighted that another of our players is moving to a European league, an attestation of the Fortune culture of developing players into professionals,” Club president ASSAN S. NDURE commented.
“ I am still and will forever be part of the Fortune Family. My love for this team will always be in my heart,” Moses revealed as he waves goodbye to the team.
He described Fortune football club as a family that stick together in sunshine and shadow.
The talented young defender, who has gathered a lot of experience over the years as a footballer for Fortune and the national U20 team, put pen to paper with FC Polissya in April. He described the signing as a dream come through.
“ It is a remarkable feeling as a young footballer. I feel like I have worked so much to put a pen to paper for my dreams to turn into a reality. I have always dreamt of signing a professional contract, and I am glad that I made it through. Not only that, but I am a dreamer,” he asserted.
A player with a massive potential for the future, Moses has qualities of a modern-day defender: tall, calm, athletic, good in the air and enticing abilities in long-range and short – range passes.
He is admired by his new club, who are eager to see the young Gambian talent in their team.
In his new adventure, JARJU said he will do his best in Ukraine as he pushes forward to another stage of his career.
“I am going there to do the best of my abilities and with a dream of making more progress in my career,” he vowed.
Since Fortune Football Club began participating in the Gambia Football Federation leagues, we have been consistently producing and molding players for professional careers. Surly, Moses departure will be followed by more professional contracts for our current crop of players soon.
