Ahead of the end of season fixture with arch rivals Brikama United tomorrow, Saturday, ambitious, workaholic and lethal goal machine, Alieu Barry, has voiced his thirst for more goals, noting that he may still have goals to score in the league as he anticipates to end the season on a high note.
Quick, tricky, dazzling supported by his lust for goals, Alieu Barry has established himself as the fulcrum of the club this season with consistent performances and goals.
With a game left before the season ends, Barry Goal, as recently nicknamed, said, he may still have goals to score. He highlighted that he has set up a target before the beginning of the season.
“Before the season starts, I set up a target for myself. The target is to work hard and improve my game to score as more goals as I can and help my
Team. I have broken my personal records for last season where I scored ten goals. And this season, maybe, I still have goals to score on Saturday,” he remarked.
The prolific attacker, joined Fortune at the beginning of the season. Since his arrival at the club, he established himself as a reliable striker, leading Jane Joof’s array of arsenals against opponents.
Ambitious with an insatiable appetite for victory, Barry told the Fortunefc.gm that he wants to finish the season with a win and a goal, just as how he started the season when he netted in his debut game for the petroleum boys against Banjul United.
“There is no better way to end the season than ending it with a goal and a win. I started the season with a goal, so I will want to end it with a goal and a win on Saturday. It is important to finish the league on a high note, so winning on Saturday will be massive.
“As a striker, my utmost responsibility on the pitch is to score goals and help my team. That mentally is still there. So, yea. I want to end the season with a win and a goal. Want to have my first goal in this derby,” he noted.
Barry only played one derby game against Brikama United, and he hopes to record his name in the history of goalscorers in the derby.
He has been one of the best players playing in the league. His ability and thirst for goals make him an outstanding player among his peers in the country.
Fortune and Brikama United, have recently made a paradigm shift in the best derby game in the country in the last three seasons.
Like Barry’s teammate Ben, he equally acknowledged it will be a tough game tomorrow, but the petroleum boys are all set to complete the double over Brikama United.
The game will kick off at 4pm tomorrow, Saturday at the Brikama Mini stadium.
